The Bombay High Court has granted interim bail to Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal, aged 75, for a period of two months on medical grounds.

Goyal, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case, had sought bail citing medical and humanitarian reasons, as both he and his wife, Anita Goyal, are battling cancer. Justice N J Jamadar, presiding over a single bench, ordered Goyal to pay a surety of ₹1 lakh and surrender his passport. Additionally, Goyal must not leave Mumbai without prior permission from the trial court.

The decision came after the ED opposed Goyal's plea, citing the lack of a recent medical report. The agency suggested extending Goyal's hospitalization for four weeks and then reassessing his situation with a fresh medical report. Goyal's bail, albeit temporary, marks a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings against him, with further hearings expected to follow.
